The Inspiration for a Flag Display

It is my belief that we should honor those who have, and are currently serving, in the armed
forces of the United States of America.  We owe a great debt to all who have sacrificed for us
by giving their time, and in some cases, their lives, to protect us and the freedoms we enjoy.
The fathers, mothers, relatives, and friends in our military, deserve our appreciation and
respect.

My father gladly served his country in W.W. II.  After O.C.S, he fought under his Captain as
a 1st. Lieutenant.  Following a devastating battle, his Captain was unable to remain in
command and my father immediately took charge on the field and was able to successfully
complete his mission.  For his leadership and valor, he was awarded the Bronze Star and
received the Purple Heart for injuries sustained.

I am a veteran of the Vietnam War, and was proud to follow my Dad’s example and serve my
country with honor.  After my father passed away, I searched for a Flag Display in which I
could proudly display the flag my mother had received in his honor.  I was disappointed
with the cheaply made, pressboard boxes sold locally. As my search continued, I checked
mail order and the Web, and was, again, frustrated to find that the only flag displays
available were, either, woefully inadequate or extremely expensive.

I decided to design and handcraft my own Flag Display with which to pay tribute to my
father’s service and the flag given in his honor.
This memorial had to be built of solid wood, (no pressboard), feature fine furniture details,
and be stained and finished using high quality products.  After several months of trial and
error, I was satisfied that I had crafted a beautiful and appropriate Flag Display in which
to exhibit my father’s flag.

This piece, quickly, became a focal point in the Visions In Wood’s furniture collection.  At
the art shows we participate in, many families told us that they had a loved one’s flag in a
box on a closet shelf, or tucked away somewhere in anticipation of displaying it sometime.

We are proud to say that we have created hundreds of Flag Displays since their
introduction. Our customers delight in finding our beautiful, well-made models, offered at
a reasonable price. We offer our Flag Displays for the same price, regardless of the type of
wood you choose. Whether made from oak, cherry, maple, ash, or walnut, the price remains
the same.

As more of our Veterans come home from their service overseas, we have noticed an
increase in the desire for smaller Flag Displays. Displays for flags that have been flown over
bases, aircraft carriers, and even, the White House. To this end, offer two smaller sizes -
3' x 5', and 4' x 6'.
